Job Responsibilities
Description:IAM Hourly represented employees who currently work at the main (Sunnyvale/Palo Alto) unit, Santa Cruz, Vandenburg Air Force Base or Eastern Range facilities must apply to open requisitions on Brass Ring to be considered for the position.
This occupation requires the disassembly, rebuilding modification, completion, checkout, and final servicing of missile and support equipment fluid systems, parts and
assemblies, support equipment fluid systems, parts and assemblies to support engineering investigation and support for flight or test purposes or general maintenance,
includes participating in countdown, test, observation, post flight or recovery programs, MESSA engineering test/evaluation as necessary.
WORK PERFORMED
Plan organization of work, methods to use and sequence of operations necessary for the complete and final acceptance of missile and support equipment fluid systems, parts and assemblies. Work from such general data as provided by preliminary design drawings, loft lines,
sketches and/or engineering information. Work closely with authorized liaison personnel and suggest, verbally or by sketches, design changes for engineering approval when part, assembly or system cannot be made or installed as designed, or does not seem to meet functional demands, or where such changes will simplify fabrication, assembly, installation and/or maintenance of fluid
systems, parts and assemblies. Perform, in connection with the above, such typical operations as: Layout, fabricate, install and plumb missile and support equipment fluid systems. This includes disassembly, modification, repair and installation of such systems and their
related parts and assemblies. Make clearance, leak, operation flow, safety and other checks make necessary
corrections. Establish reference points or stations and make such alignments as necessary to plumb
fluid systems or install their related parts and assemblies.
Calibrate flow meters, etc. Set controls and operate systems. Develop and build-up checkout aids and test equipment necessary to prove out propulsion, parts and
assemblies. Fuel and load systems for pressure or test purposes. Clean and blow out systems at completion of test as required. Perform pressure, flow and other functional test or checkout operations necessary to sell
off the above parts, assemblies, and systems as being completed and in accordance with specifications.
Sign-off fluid systems items as complete and assist with such countdown activities as fueling, hookup, shakedown, etc. Perform other pre-flight or test duties as necessary.
Number, stencil or otherwise code or identify missile and support equipment fluid systems, parts or assemblies in accordance with specification. Perform all developmental and experimental work operations necessary to accomplish the foregoing. Assist mechanics in other fields of specialization as required. Participate in observation, post-flight or recovery program activities as required.
May be required to support MESSA engineering evaluation of missile and support equipment fluid systems and hardware. Support AIM and Missile transporting operations.
TYPICAL MATERIALS, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Materials worked on: Ferrous and non-ferrous metals and related alloys: non-metallic materials, Pneumatics and fluids.
Materials worked with: Powder activated devices, fuels, chemicals or other propellants; plumbing and fluid systems, parts and assemblies; compounds, sealants and lubricants.
Tools used: Mechanics’ hand tools, special plumbing and fluid systems fabrication, assembly and installation tools; precision measuring devices, etc.
Equipment used: Bench and basic shop machines and equipment, compressors, pumps, checkout aids, test equipment, motor vehicles and other handling equipment.
Basic Qualifications:
• Possesses a complete knowledge of methods and requirements necessary to prepare missile and support equipment fluid systems, arts and assemblies for test or flight purposes.
• Sets up and operate various types of basic shop forming and cutting machines and equipment.
• Possess a working knowledge of the physical and working characteristics of missile fluid systems, materials, parts and assemblies.
• Works from incomplete design information and fill in details from practical experience or typical procedure.
• Use shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
• Familiar with post-flight, recovery program duties, equipment, base and LMC regulations.
• Works with the proper knowledge of safety practices and regulations while working under actual or potentially hazardous conditions.
• In order to hold this classification an employee must possess all certifications and licenses required.
• May require the ability to handle program peculiar equipment/material.
• May be required to have proper classification of commercial
Driver’s License required by the State of Florida operate material handling equipment.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
