Lockheed Martin’s Rotary and Mission Systems’ C4ISR team is looking for a proven and experienced systems engineer to support the Peace Krypton (PK) program.

THE WORK
As a Mechanical Engineer in this position, you will:
• Research, plan, design, and develop mechanical products and systems
• Apply research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems
• Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives and approaches to assignments
• Guide the successful completion of major program milestones and may function in a project leadership role
• Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects
• Interact with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations
• Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
• Ensure adequate peer reviews and trade study rigor to confirm all engineering changes are complete prior to implementation
• Ensure technical risks are adequately represented

On this team, you will collaborate with a diverse, geographically separated team of technical professionals including software developers, aircraft and hardware engineers, and integration and test engineers. You will work with cross-functional team in a highly dynamic mission-focused environment.

WHO YOU ARE
• An experienced Mechanical Engineer across a program lifecycle to include experience supporting design milestone reviews.
• A candidate with a strong background in systems and mechanical engineering, with expertise in manufacturing requirements development, system design, hardware drawings and specification development, and troubleshooting issues
• You will be responsible for participating in the development and presentation of design proposals, detail design and support through the product lifecycle.
• You will be involved in developing basic data, preliminary design layouts and detail design for new and revised parts, assemblies and systems that make up the Peace Krypton system

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM discipline
• Minimum 9 years of professional experience, or 7 years of professional experience with a related Master's degree
• Considered an emerging authority in the field of mechanical engineering
• Extensive technical expertise and full knowledge of other related disciplines
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction and exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives and approaches
• Prior experience with two or more major milestone reviews (SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR)
• Ability to support CONUS and OCONUS travel, as necessary
Desired Skills:
• Strong leadership and project management skills
• Hardware troubleshooting experience in lab, depot, and production environments
• Prior experience with design, development, integration, test
• Experience in the design, development, and production phases of a contract
• Experience working with customer, end users, and subcontractors
• Experience working with a hybrid team in multiple locations
• Experience in Mechanical design in aerospace or a similar industry

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 - $184,115. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
