Lockheed Martin Space (LMS) seeks a Portfolio Capture Lead (PCL) to oversee the planning and execution of captures in our Commercial-Civil Space and Engineering (CCS&E) portfolio, ensuring that capture and proposal activities are executed to the highest standards and result in maximum growth. As the CCS&E PCL you will report to the Vice President of Capture Excellence (CE) within the Strategy and Business Development (S&BD) organization and will partner with the Mission Strategy and Advanced Capability (MSAC) teams to support the planning and execution of major captures, providing resources and process guidance and weighing in on strategic decisions. You will drive due diligence and help ensure the proper balance between customer need, competitive discrimination and value to LMS. Also, you will provide a voting voice regarding capture quality and the assignment of capture professionals and will help ensure coordination between LOB, MSAC and functional organizations working with the capture team spend bid-and-proposal dollars in the most efficient and effective manner. Finally, as our PCL you will champion the needs of CCS&E portfolio captures with leadership to ensure those needs are met.

Specific responsibilities: As the PCL you will...

• Assist teams in their efforts for large captures in close coordination and collaboration with the CE VP, MSAC VP and their teams.

• Assist in the development and implementation of win strategies, competitive intelligence portfolios, teaming strategies, customer assessments and all elements of a large capture to maximize probability-of-win.

• Drive development of strategies and objectives with executives in the MSAC and across the LM Enterprise to achieve shaping goals and develop programmatic baselines for development, production and services contracts.

• Oversee and advise on the development of capture/win plans to ensure on-cost and -schedule performance and disciplined execution and expenditure of capture resources.

• Ensure the balance of customer need, competitiveness and value to LMS for pursuits in qualification, validating bid/no-bid decisions.

• Drive proper capture process and discipline to maximize the effectiveness of capture teams.

• Promote and drive the formal and on-the-job training of capture and proposal professionals with the Capture Talent Center to grow bench depth and experience.

• Communicate capture/proposal risks, opportunities and issues early to leadership to maximize positive outcomes downstream.

• Ensure that gate reviews, color reviews, submit reviews and other milestone forums are concise, effective and well-communicated to leadership.


Our level 6 employees typically have 20+ years of experience.


Although this position does support some teleworking, the selected candidate will be located near our Englewood facility and be expected to work in the office as needed and as appropriate.

Basic Qualifications:
• Industry-applicable B.S. or B.A. degree

• Minimum 10-20 years experience in the Aerospace and Defense Industry and across commercial, civil and advanced technology customer markets

• Previous experience leading large teams on captures exceeding $500M in value, and ability to build strong internal and external networks and develop strong teams to maximize Pwin

• Previous demonstration of a strong capture win rate on smaller captures and on large captures exceeding $500M in value, and an understanding of the balance between customer values, competitive positioning and company-internal risk considerations in formulating an offering

• Senior level experience leading large capture and proposal teams

• Previous relevant experience and relationships with commercial customers, NASA and other civil government customers, and related industry partners are required

• Strong expertise and experience in the structure and mechanics of capture and proposal planning, execution, statusing and strategic decision-making

• Due to programs this position will support, U.S. citizenship is required
Desired Skills:
• 8+ years experience leading large capture and proposal teams ($300M or more preferred)

• Very effective executive-level presentation and communication skills

• Able to travel for business 1-2 times per month

• MBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred

• Ability to lead and manage across LMS functional areas to engage them early and develop holistic capture offerings, and experience engaging government customers and developing trusted relationships

• Experience as a systems thinker with proven ability to bring decision clarity to complex organizations in dynamic environments

• A broad diversity of experience with customers and International experience

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $151,200 - $266,570. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
