Space Engineering is embarking on an strategic organizational update, moving to a framework called Talent Centers, that establishes talent development and accountability as its primary focus. Talent development is critical to providing world leading engineering teams and solutions to our programs. This position is a pivotal part of our strategy to build on our existing work-force, building on the culture of engineering excellence in the Space engineering organization. The Engineering Talent Center is Seeking a motivated candidate to provide revolutionary leadership to the Guidance Navigation and Control Engineering Talent Center. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of building an organization that will take LM Space Engineering to the next level.
Reporting to the Vice President of the Missile, Spacecraft and Payloads Engineering Talent Center, the Guidance Navigation and Control Engineering Talent Center, at a top level, comprises the following for both Missiles and Spacecraft:
• GN&C SubSystems (Satellite)
• NG&C Systems (Missile)
• Algorithms / Control Design & Analysis
• GN&C / NG&C Hardware
• Dynamics & Control Analysis
• Target Tracking
• Rendezvous Proximity Operations and Docking
• Computer Vision/Image Processing
• Precision Pointing Systems
• Orbit Determination, GPS
• Modeling, Simulation and Analysis
As the Guidance Navigation and Control Engineering Talent Center Director, this Leader will shape the future of our Guidance Navigation and Control product strategies and our Guidance Navigation and Control Engineering Work-Force.
The primary responsibilities of this role are to focus on our people and build the Talent Center by:
• Collaborate with enterprise stakeholders to develop product strategies.
• Creating an organization that establishes talent development as a foundational objective.
• Identify sub-talents withing the Guidance Navigation and Control Engineering Talent Center in which to develop talents and technologies.
• Organizing talent development along with program support teams that combine to enable superior program support and talent development.
• Creating talent development networks that pair senior, more experienced personnel to work regularly in an interactive fashion with more junior personnel to force multiply their talent and knowledge to achieve program objectives and build a resilient talent pipeline.
• Leveraging the talent pipeline to decrease the environment of scarce availability of critical and fragile skill groups.
• Enabling the identification of digitally enabled enhancements to the engineering process and establishing a measured implementation plan for them.
• Establishing efficiency metrics for appropriate talent groups to identify areas of opportunity within engineering teams and monitor the effectiveness of new capability insertions.
• Creating an environment on continuous process improvement that balances technical, cost and schedule to provide improved LM Space financial performance.
• Building a leadership culture within the organization that is committed to building talent and is accountable for delivering on engineering commitments.
• Proactively partnering with LOBs, Ignite and Product Centers to understand engineering staffing needs and work to fill those needs on time.
• Establishing a method to provide engineering proposal inputs that enable LM Space growth goals. This includes
o Re-Use of BOEs that have been created with high quality.
o Creating competitive cost estimates that are, achievable and recognize continuous process improvement.
o Creation and re-use of proposal inputs that capture our technical solutions and communicate an LM value proposition consistent with the program’s win strategy.
Basic Qualifications:
To be effective, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:
• Minimum 15 years of combined technical and leadership experience.
• Must have experience leading cross-functional teams who lead the design, development, production, sustainment and evolution of technical products.
• The successful candidate must demonstrate full spectrum leadership skills and behaviors and proven experience leading a cross-functional team of employees.
• Demonstrated ability to drive closure and resolve complex technical issues/challenges.
• Must be an excellent communicator, with experience presenting to executive leadership.
• You will need to be a US Citizen, and currently possess and be able to maintain a US DoD TOP SECRET clearance, with the ability to gain a TS/SCI Clearance, to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

• Experience in major program reviews including System Requirement Reviews, System Design Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, Manufacturing Readiness Review, Test Readiness Review, etc.
• Commitment to the development of others.
• Experience in manufacturing and production of space GNC products
• Preliminary Review / Engineering Review Board (PR/MRB) certification or experience.
• Component / Unit level manufacturing & testing experience.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $180,000 - $287,500. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
