The Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) team is made up of enthusiastic and talented individuals that design and produce the hardware, algorithms, and software required to solve the challenging problems of controlling these systems. This position reports to the Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Products Manager within the GNC Talent Center organization. The role specifically is for a GNC hardware engineer on the Orion program. The Candidate must be capable of performing Material Review Boards, Failure Review Board, Critical Design Reviews, Qualification Review Boards, Design and testing oversight of hardware throughout design lifecycle. Focus will be on LIDARs but could develop into other product areas. Some travel will be needed.
Basic Qualifications:
• Working knowledge of basic GNC hardware products, GNC systems, and operation
• Current/Previous experience working with subcontractor hardware development, including build, test, and integration
• Previous experience presenting to stakeholders.
• Experience with Scanning LIDARS
Desired Skills:
• Master's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other related engineering degree with at least 7 years of experience
• Current/Previous experience delivering hardware as a CPE for GNC or Avionics.
• Experience leading hardware build, test, and integration efforts
• Experience with qualification of Space Flight Hardware
• Experience interfacing with NASA customer
• Experience working on Orion Program
• In depth knowledge and experience with Scanning LIDARs Hardware and Software
• Experience with Optical Sensor Performance/Characterization Testing including Precision LASER metrology and alignments
• Experience with proposal writing
• Experience with RPO hardware
• Willingness to obtain and maintain a DOD Clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $118,700 - $209,300. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.

About
The Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) engineer at Lockheed Martin will have the opportunity to design, simulate and verify technologies such as missile autopilot, guidance algorithms, inertial target tracking, and Navigation algorithms using Kalman Filters for optimal estimation techniques. They will also have the opportunity to design, simulate and verify precision servo control and pointing algorithms for gimbaled seekers and other sensors as well as various actuators and mechanisms. Modelling and simulation of these systems is performed primarily in Matlab and C++.
