Job Responsibilities
Description:WHAT WE'RE DOING
At the forefront of innovation, the Radar & Sensor Systems (RSS) segment within Integrated Warfare Systems & Sensors (IWSS) is launching a new Emerging Sensors (ES) organization. This business area is focused on developing and integrating cutting-edge sensor technologies that support next-generation missions for a diverse set of customers—including the FAA, Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), intra-Lockheed Martin stakeholders, and other U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) elements.
We’re uniting new program starts, technology maturation efforts, and Contracted R&D (CRAD) pursuits under one focused subsegment to drive faster innovation, capture new markets, and expand our impact across both domestic and nontraditional defense sectors.
THE WORK
As the Program Management Director for Emerging Sensors, you will lead a portfolio of high-growth, high-impact efforts across multiple mission domains. You’ll be responsible for overseeing program execution, shaping new business strategy, and driving alignment across engineering, operations, and customer teams. Your work will span across early-phase concept development, CRAD execution, and full lifecycle program delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading complex program planning and execution across a diverse set of sensor technologies
• Driving strategic captures and aligning investments with growth priorities
• Building and managing customer relationships across DoD, FAA, and other stakeholders
• Partnering with engineering and technology teams to transition innovations into programs of record
• Managing risk, financials, and performance metrics across the subsegment
• Mentoring and developing a high-performing team of program leaders
WHO WE ARE
We’re part of Lockheed Martin’s Integrated Warfare Systems & Sensors business—a recognized leader in advanced radar and sensor technologies. RSS is known for delivering mission-critical systems that detect, track, and protect. Our new Emerging Sensors (ES) group builds on that legacy with a forward-leaning focus on high-potential programs like:
• ARTS-V3
• EXBAR
• mmWave
• DTRL / MBFCR
We’re also leading major capture efforts, including:
• MEG
• OTH Radars
• NORAD Modernization
• Quantum/DNV initiatives
With an eye toward global markets, we’re expanding our reach—integrating advanced capabilities, building key partnerships, and supporting national and allied defense strategies around the world.
WHO YOU ARE
You’re a strategic and execution-driven leader with a proven record of managing complex programs, winning new business, and building long-term customer and stakeholder relationships. You’re as comfortable shaping a five-year growth roadmap as you are jumping into the details of a capture campaign or contract review.
You Bring:
• Experience leading large-scale DoD or dual-use sensor/radar programs
• Expertise in customer engagement—both U.S. and international
• A track record of CRAD or new-start program captures
• Excellent cross-functional leadership skills
• A collaborative approach to aligning technology, business, and execution strategies
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally to support market expansion
WHY JOIN US
This is a rare opportunity to build something new from the ground up—with the resources, talent, and mission of a global leader behind you. As Program Management Director for Emerging Sensors, you’ll:
• Lead a high-visibility subsegment with room for rapid growth
• Shape and execute the strategy for one of IWSS’s most forward-leaning business areas
• Work on the technologies that will define future radar, sensor, and electronic warfare capabilities
• Collaborate with top engineers, strategists, and technologists in a mission that matters
• Drive impact globally while mentoring the next generation of program leaders
If you’re ready to help redefine what’s possible in radar and sensor innovation—we want you on our team.
