Description:
You will be the Precision Measuring Instruments Inspector for the team which is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and calibrating precision measuring instruments.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Precision Measuring Instruments Inspector, you will be responsible for using various high precision measuring devices to check items such as instruments and gauges.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Inspecting precision gauges and instruments, such as setting, working, and inspection gauges, thread wires, and engineer’s levels
- Disassembling, cleaning, reassembling, adjusting, and calibrating precision measuring instruments
- Making minor repairs to broken, worn, or damaged equipment by replacing unusable parts with standard available items
- Developing or improvising precision measuring or checking devices as required to accommodate and inspect tools and gauges
- Utilizing facilities to determine specific measurements on parts in connection with investigations, at the request of other inspection units

Who You Are
The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled and detail-oriented inspector with a strong knowledge of precision measuring instruments, including their functions, use, operation, adjustment, and repair. You will have excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to adapt available equipment to special and difficult measurement problems, and the ability to operate precision lathes, grinders, and lapping tools.

Basic Qualifications:
1. A combination of twenty-four months documented experience, including optical/dimensional/torque instruments involving repairing, maintaining, calibrating, and testing precision instrumentation and test equipment with equipment traceable to national standards. Common equipment to be serviced may consist of micrometers and calipers, digital indicators, torque application systems, laser interferometers, optical measuring equipment, and height gages.

2. Completed PMEL (Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory) training from a branch of the U. S. Armed Forces and six months experience calibrating Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
NOTE:
Must be able to perform physically demanding activities throughout both North and South Campus areas. Frequent lifting of various weights is required.
Eighteen months credit towards the twenty-four month requirement may be given to an employee who has an associate degree in Metrology from an accredited college or university.
Twelve months credit towards the twenty-four month requirement may be given to an employee who has successfully completed the requirements of a Metrology Diploma or Certificate from an accredited college or university, or who has successfully completed the ASQ (American Society for Quality) Certified Calibration Technician examination.
Twelve months credit towards the twenty-four month requirement may be given to an employee who has successfully completed an Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or completion of an equivalent voc/tech school or industrial training program in Industrial Instrumentation or Electromechanical technology. These programs typically include pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and controls.
Desired Skills:
Proficiency with Precision Measuring Tools: Micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.
Experience with specifications and tolerances

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
