Description:WHAT WE'RE DOING
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Structural Analysis Engineer to join our Accelerated Materials & Product Development (AMPD) engineering department. In this role you will design, analyze, and test a variety of structures and systems to ensure they meet project requirements and industry standards.

THE WORK
- Lay out load paths early in the design phase and perform detailed analysis throughout the design cycle.
- Document analysis results and conduct non‑conformance investigations during production.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to evaluate material and component structural tests, including validation using strain‑gage data.
- Interpret design specifications, codes, and standards to ensure project compliance.
- Collaborate with project teams to verify design intent and resolve issues promptly.
- Provide technical support during fabrication and validation phases of the engineering cycle.

WHO YOU ARE
- Proven expertise in structural analysis, with experience in static, dynamic, and fatigue analyses of aerospace‑grade structures.
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, MIL‑STD, FAA).
- Skilled at interpreting design specifications and translating them into actionable analysis plans.
- Excellent communicator able to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and present technical findings clearly.
- Proactive problem‑solver who can lead non‑conformance investigations and support fabrication teams.
- Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering preferred; extensive industry experience acceptable.

Basic Qualifications:
- Senior structural analysis engineer with significant experience in static (linear and non-linear), fatigue, and dynamic analyses.
- Analysis experience of composite and metal structures
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related field
- Proficiency in engineering software such as ANSYS, FEMAP, etc.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Desired Skills:
- The ideal candidate will have extensive experience analyzing structural elements using strength of materials and finite element analysis, including Nastran, Abaqus, Patran, FEMAP, Ansys, etc.
- Analysis experience of composite and metal structures where bolted and bonded joints are incorporated is strongly desired.
- Be comfortable working in a dynamic environment on a team with various engineering disciplines working multiple projects with competing priorities.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
