Description:

You will be a Precision Machining Technician at Lockheed Martin’s Chelmsford, MA facility, working on the second shift (with the option to move to first or third shift). In this fast paced, high growth environment you will turn raw stock, castings, forgings, dies and fixtures into high quality aerospace and defense hardware. Your work will directly support the programs that keep our nation safe.

What You Will Be Doing
As a member of our skilled shop floor team you will set up and operate a variety of manual, CNC and grinding machines, interpret blueprints (including GD&T), and fabricate complex parts to exacting tolerances. You will also suggest producibility improvements, calibrate tools, and ensure every component meets specifications.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Set up and run manual and CNC machines for drilling, boring, milling, and turning of metal, exotic non metallic and composite materials.
• Operate grinding equipment to form, sharpen and finish cutters, drills and other tooling.
• Read and apply engineering drawings, rough sketches, verbal instructions, ANSI and military specifications, and GD&T requirements.
• Layout parts, select hand tools, and create custom fixtures or production aids as needed.
• Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, CMMs) to verify dimensions, angles and surface finish.
• Rework, calibrate, and repair production parts, assemblies and machine tooling to maintain accuracy.
• Inspect each finished component for compliance and document results in work orders.
• Propose design or process changes that enhance manufacturability and reduce cycle time.
• Work independently while collaborating with engineers, quality inspectors and supply chain partners.
• Follow all safety and ESD procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Be available to work first, second or third shift in accordance with the Lockheed Martin UAW collective bargaining agreement.

Basic Qualifications:
• Experience with precision machining, measuring, and set up skills on Manual and N/C (Numerical Control) machine tools.
• Other required skills include experience with one or more of the following:
-interpretation and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
-American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and military specifications.
• Must have the ability to work first, second, or third shift in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
• Due to facility requirements, all candidates must be U.S. citizens
Desired Skills:
• Technical training, recognized journeyman apprenticeship, programming and more than 7 years experience in setting up, operating and N/C programming.

• Experience with ID/OD grinding and / or centerless grinding and the ability to hold close tolerances.
• Set up and operation of various types grinding machines to form, sharpen, and grind cutters and drills.
• Experience with running an electrical discharge machine (EDM), wire and / or sinker. Must be able to adjust the machine as needed.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
