Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems (RMS) delivers cutting‑edge, mission‑critical solutions to our customers. As a Systems Architect, you will be the technical focal point for defining, developing, and communicating system‑level designs that balance performance, technology maturity, and schedule constraints across current and future programs.
The Work
This part time position as a Mission System Architect who will report to the Rotary Wing Mission Solutions (RWMS) Organization Senior Manager within Mission Systems Integrated Engineering (MSIE) organization
This position provides technical support to the existing Missions Systems architecture and technical teams and will be primarily focused on the architecture solutions for the Combat Rescue Helicopter (CRH) Program. This includes advising and supporting engineering professionals in order to satisfy CRH customer requirements and achieve cost, schedule, technical objectives. This position will directly interface with and support the submarket Chief Architect and Chief Engineer, the CRH Tactical Mission Kit (TMK) Architect, and associated technical teams, and the DoD customer as needed in support of the CRH development and new business pursuits, activities, and contracts. Excellent interpersonal skills are required to be successful in this role, given the interfacing activities within Sikorsky, RMS, other Business Areas and Lines of business and the customer. This position directly supports the CRH Program, so familiarity with the Sikorsky CRH Technical solution is required. This position will also require skills to be deployed to other focuses within RWMS and the broader MSIE organization.

Who You Are
Education & Experience – Bachelor’s (or higher) in Systems Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; 7+ years of experience in system architecture or senior systems engineering roles, preferably on complex aerospace/defense programs.
Technical Mastery – Proven ability to develop end‑to‑end system architectures, create interface control documents, and use modeling tools such as SysML, UML, or similar. Familiarity with technology readiness assessments (TRL) and system integration challenges.
Analytical Skills – Strong aptitude for translating high‑level mission requirements into concrete design solutions while balancing maturity, cost, and schedule constraints.
Communication Excellence – Ability to convey complex architectural concepts clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences; experience delivering briefings, whitepapers, and design review materials.
Collaboration Focus – Demonstrated success working in multi‑disciplinary teams, influencing across functional boundaries, and driving consensus.
Leadership & Mentorship – Comfortable acting as the architectural focal point, guiding junior engineers, and establishing architecture standards.
Clearance – Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret (or higher) security clearance.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field
- System Architect and/or Chief Engineer experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience building strong customer and teammate relationships
- Understanding of mission systems and interfaces
- In-depth knowledge of Lockheed Martin and Sikorsky processes and procedures
- Ability to travel when required
- Ability to interface frequently and directly with key customer and end user personnel
- US Citizen and ability to obtain and hold an active security clearance
- Experience with interpreting requirements and perform/assess trades
- Understanding complex system architectures
- Experience establishing the requirements and verification baseline
- Understanding of Avionics and Modular Open System Architectures (MOSA)
Desired Skills:
- Understanding of the Combat Rescue Helicopter (HH-60W CRH) technical solution and architecture
- Understanding of Degraded Visual Environment (DVE) systems and technologies
- Understanding in Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)
- Understanding of Future Vertical Lift requirements

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: Part-Time as assigned by leader
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $164,300 - $289,800. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $189,000 - $327,635. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
