Roles within the Quality and Mission Success Organization

Quality Engineer: Applies quality principles in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation, program performance, reliability, inventory control, and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality for the make and/or buying of products. Performs technical evaluations including product requirements, specifications, models/designs, drawings and procedures. Collaborates with program management, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and customers on quality-related issues to ensure quality standards are in place. Engages in product failure investigations, material review board decisions and corrective/preventive action. Ensures corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and/or are compliant with requirements. Develops strategies and systems designed to improve internal and/or supplier performance and productivity. Evaluates quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts product quality tests, performs statistical analysis to assess products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. Engages in the supplier selection process and maintains certification programs.
Software Quality Engineer: Develops, modifies and applies quality principles to the development and use of software and software-based systems for make and/or buy software products. Performs verification and validation of test equipment including hardware in the loop systems. Develops overall operating criteria to ensure implementation of the software quality program according to project, process and contract requirements and objectives. Designs and implements software development and maintenance processes. Defines audit strategy to ensure compliance to systems/software processes. Designs, specifies and conducts test methods for software inspection, verification and validation. Evaluates and analyzes software quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures measures meet acceptable reliability standards. Performs software product reviews against contractual, technical and/or process requirements. Reviews include requirement specifications, design documents, source code, test plans and procedures, materials, tools, techniques, and methodologies. Performs or directs verification of software requirement allocations, traceability, and testability.
Multi-Functional Quality: Manages more than one functional area in Quality, Reliability, Test, or Inspection. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Responsible for resource allocation, work assignments and establishing/maintaining an effective business rhythm. Responsible for all aspects of quality for assigned area of responsibility. Communicates quality requirements, concerns and expectations. Active participant in risk and opportunity management processes. Ensures cost commitments and financial responsibilities are met. Ensures appropriate identification and flow down of quality requirements (internal and contractual) and effective implementation of quality requirements. Ensures effective implementation of quality management system within area of responsibility. Ensures effective implementation of a metrics program and actively address adverse trends. Ensures product acceptance and delivery per established process and program requirements. Note: This job code will be used for quality personnel that have lead responsibility for a program with one or more quality disciplines.
Supplier Quality Field Representative: Collaborates with internal quality, engineering and manufacturing functions and suppliers to ensure quality standards and product requirements are met. Ensures supplier contract requirements are implemented and verified. Monitors quality control activities and systems at supplier facilities and maintains feedback loops. Performs surveillance ensuring supplier's conformance to company and program requirements. Performs source inspections (both in process and final), first articles, manufacturing process validations, source surveillance and special process audits, as applicable. Provides internal and supplier support for root cause and corrective/preventive actions related to supplier discrepancies. Supports supplier failure investigations as required. Ensures control of supplier nonconforming items, conduct analyses and monitor effectiveness of corrective actions at the supplier.
Quality Analyst: Supports the development of quality plans and procedures in accordance with customer requirements for both make and buy items. Ensures conformance to company and regulatory standards. Initiates, reviews, analyzes and reports on quality-related data/metrics from production, service, supplier or process improvement activities and analyzes using statistical techniques. Interfaces as needed with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure process requirements are met. Supports the development of disposition and corrective actions for recurring product/process discrepancies for both make and buy items. Reviews completed assembly, process, test, mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical quality records to determine data accuracy, acceptability and completeness. Manages the quality records control process to assure adequate accountability and traceability. Develops and maintains governing procedures related to records control. Supports product acceptance and delivery per established process.
Delivery & Sustainment Quality Representative: Provides product quality support in an operational environment including delivery, maintenance and modification efforts. Interprets and provides governance to ensure full compliance with industry standards and customer regulations for specific product operations, including fielded systems from initial procurement, delivery, supply chain, reutilization and disposal. Supports the execution of the sustainment strategy across the product life cycle. Measures sustainment quality performance. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment while providing statistical analysis to determine root causes, establish corrective action, and apply strategies and/or systems designed to improve performance and productivity. Applies diagnostics and other condition-based maintenance techniques; performs product and process surveillance and collaborates with platform Users, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Sustainment to ensure quality standards are in place. Quality integrator is responsible for overseeing contractual compliance with company and 3rd party operations conducting product delivery, maintenance and operations. Supports final acceptance of finished product and/or modification efforts.
Quality Auditor: Evaluates quality process and system standards to ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory and industry requirements. Performs and reports on internal and external audits, system, product and process conformity, preaudits and special audits. Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring quality system process discrepancies. Interfaces as needed with manufacturing, engineering, customer and supply chain representatives to ensure quality system process requirements are met and recommend corrective actions.
NDI / NDT Test Engineer: Uses technical expertise in the field of non-destructive testing (NDT) with industry certifications in one or more industry-recognized methods, e.g. liquid penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, eddy current testing, ultrasonic testing, radiography testing, and visual testing. Provides specialized expertise to manufacturing, engineering, programs, field personnel, and suppliers. Designs, and develops NDT testing methods. Responsible for failure and NDT methods analysis. Prepares, revises, and reviews NDT material/process specifications and NDT technique sheets including evaluation of supplier techniques/procedures. Designs and evaluates inspection reference standards. Audits NDT inspection facilities. Provides recommendations on specifications, capabilities, limitations, and benefits of NDT methods. Validates non-destructive callouts on engineering drawings. Develops course material and trains NDT inspectors in accordance with industry standards and company requirements. Prior certification (or the ability to certify) to ASNT, NAS 410, or equivalent in at least one of the industry-recognized NDT methods.
Program Quality: Manages the implementation and execution of program quality requirements. Responsible for all aspects of Quality across the program’s life-cycle including proposals, contract review, start-up, development, transition to production, production and support. Requires an understanding of quality tasks across quality functions including hardware, software, systems and suppliers/subcontractors, and customers. Proficient in company policies. Partners with program teams as the Quality Lead for design, development, production and mobilization phases of program execution. Performs contract reviews and flows down contract quality requirements to quality team, including suppliers. Establishes quality budgets and cost commitments. Serves on the program area Risk and Opportunity Review Boards; nominates risks and opportunities. Ensures Quality Assurance Plans are documented and current and implemented. Schedules and ensures assessments of program (e.g. quality audits). Participates in independent program reviews to understand risks and drive Return to Green plans. Maintains a DCMA/Customer quality relationship. Establishes and maintains effective Quality Program Team business rhythm.
Software Quality Analyst: Supports development of quality plans and procedures in accordance with customer requirements for both make and buy items. Ensures the conformance to company and regulatory standards. Performs software process evaluations/audits. Initiates, reviews, analyzes and reports on software quality-related data/metrics. Interfaces as needed with manufacturing, engineering, customer, and supply chain representatives to ensure process requirements are met. Supports the development of disposition and corrective actions for recurring product/process discrepancies for both make and buy items. Witness software product builds and test events. Performs software media verification.
