Meet Lisbeth - Chief Engineer of Apache Programs

About Lisbeth

When Lisbeth was in college, her mom was a single mom, and she remembers her mother walking 45 minutes to work at a department store to work an eight-hour shift on her feet. Hopefully, by the end of the shift, someone would give her a ride home, or it was another 45-minute walk. At that time, she wasn’t sure how she was going to pay for college. Her mother lost her job and eventually found other better-paying jobs as time went on, but Lisbeth knew that supporting her mother was something she was meant to do, especially since her mother sacrificed so much for her.

Lisbeth moved on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, and she is a graduate of the Lockheed Martin Advanced Technical Leadership Program. In 2002, Lisbeth joined Lockheed Martin because, “it provided me with the opportunity to earn a great living to support myself and my mom.”

Over the last 19 years, she has worked on both Sensors and Tactical Missiles technologies, gaining experience across various disciplines, including advanced algorithms and real-time processors. She has served in several key technical roles, including engineering lead for the LRASM Surface Launch Guided Flight Vehicle, LRASM Sensor IPT lead, chief engineer for Collaborative Operations in Denied Environment (CODE) program, the chief engineer for the LRASM Lot 4 development effort, and the chief engineer of the Advance Rotary Wing and Ground System program area. Lisbeth is currently the Chief Engineer for Electro-Optical and Radar sensor systems on the Apache helicopter.

Lisbeth shared her aspirations on why she stays with Lockheed Martin, “I like my job for the same reason I stay. I stayed because of the people and the mission. I’ve had the opportunity to meet some truly amazing people while working here. Everybody that I meet is willing to share their trade and find ways to help you out if you need it. And when you are part of high-performing teams solving tough problems, you truly become a family. The mission we do to keep the men and women of the armed forces safe is something that is truly amazing. I have heard pilot testimonials on the products we built and how it has allowed them to come home safely and well, it’s something really special."
