SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Kylene Eagle and her team send commands to the AEHF satellite during launch and orbit operations. As a Satellite Systems Engineer, she ensures the networks between the ground antennas and the U.S. Air Force are working correctly and troubleshoots any issues.

Her first role at Lockheed Martin was in human resources. Today, Kylene spends her time learning the intricacies of orbital mechanics and satellite components. She credits Lockheed Martin leadership with taking the time to train her in the technical portions of her job and helping her career grow. In both of her roles, Kylene’s biggest learning is how to creatively solve problems — no matter how big or small the task. For her, working with teams where everyone is dedicated to completing every project or task makes every day different and rewarding.

Systems Engineers support programs throughout the entire program life-cycle and are the glue that helps programs ensure they meet all customer and mission requirements through accurate translation  of customer Space & Missile System needs into architectures and requirements which they then allocate to subsystems and components. Systems Engineers drive closure across all technical disciplines to synthesize and validate designs that address our customers toughest challenges. Systems Engineers in Space can be involved across any of the following Systems disciplines:

  • Model Based Systems Engineering
  • Implementation of Augmented Reality (AR)
  • Advanced Program Trade Studies
  • Engineering Project Management
  • Systems Architecture and Conops
  • Systems Integration of subsystems and multi-segment systems
  • System requirements planning and verification
  • Mission Operations (S/C fight operations and Control)
  • System Modeling Simulation and Analysis
  • Configuration and Data Management
  • Systems Reliability, Human factors, EMI/EMC and Maintainability
  • System Survivability and Nuclear Certification
  • Fault Management and Protection
