Description:The Airworthiness Airworthiness & Certification Engineer will serve as a member of the Air Mobility & Maritime Mission (AMMM) Airworthiness Team, providing support to ensure compliance with European Military Airworthiness Requirements (EMAR) and US Government Airworthiness Requirements. The successful candidate will support business needs, drive innovation, and increase efficiencies within the Engineering & Technology organization.

What You Will Be Doing



As an Airworthiness & Certification Engineer, you will:


  • Manage airworthiness artifacts and data requirements to support certification cycles, including preparing critical documentation such as:

    o Certification Basis

    o Compliance Reports

    o Configuration Verification Reports


  • Certificate of Design through the life cycle of a project

  • Coordinate and lead discussions with internal and external customers to define and achieve certification approaches.

  • Host and facilitate Certification Working Groups, Airworthiness Technical Interchange Meetings, and Airworthiness Risk Review Boards.

  • Collaborate daily with AMMM Deputy Chief Engineers, Chief Engineers, and the Director of Engineering & Technology to address and manage customer airworthiness demands.

  • Make recommendations to the AMMM Chief Engineer or relevant Nation's Airworthiness Authority regarding an aircraft’s readiness for flight.

  • Travel internationally to meet with Airworthiness Authorities to discuss certification requirements and processes.

    Basic Qualifications:
    · A Bachelor's degree in one of the following disciplines: Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.

    · Proven experience with the aircraft and project certification process is required, including familiarity with the Certification Basis (AWB-130) and Compliance Report (AWB-140) processes, as outlined in MIL-HDBK-516.

    · Must be a U.S. Citizen, as this position requires a government security clearance. Additionally, this position is located at a facility that requires special access, and candidates must be eligible to obtain the necessary clearance and access.

    · Adaptability and Multitasking: Proven experience working in a dynamic environment with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.

    · Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to effectively utilize these tools to support project management and communication.

    · Collaboration and Teamwork: Experience working with cross-functional teams, with a strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

    · Communication and Reporting: Proven ability to provide frequent and accurate status reports to management, with strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey project information and updates.

    · Organizational and Coordination Skills: Excellent organizational and coordination skills, with a high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

    Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
    Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
    Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
